What is it?

MCPA (2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid) is a member of the phenoxy family of herbicides. It is a selective postemergent herbicide. MCPA is effective against a wide range of broadleaf weeds without harming grasses, making it a valuable tool in agriculture and lawn care.

How does it work?

MCPA works by being absorbed through the leaves and roots of weeds. Once inside the plant, it interferes with normal cell growth and division, mimicking the action of natural growth hormones (auxins). This disruption leads to uncontrolled growth, which eventually kills the weed. MCPA is primarily used as a post-emergent herbicide, meaning it is applied after the weeds have emerged.
