What is it?
Sethoxydim is a selective herbicide primarily used to control grass weeds in a variety of broadleaf crops, vegetables, fruits, and ornamentals. It is effective against a wide range of annual and perennial grass species but does not harm broadleaf plants. Sethoxydim is typically formulated as an emulsifiable concentrate and is applied as a foliar spray.
How does it work?
Sethoxydim is absorbed through the leaves and translocated to the growing points of the grass weeds. The herbicide targets and inhibits the ACCase enzyme, which is essential for lipid synthesis in grasses. Without lipids, the cell membranes cannot be maintained, leading to disrupted cell function and plant death. Visible results can be seen within a few days to a week after application, as the grass weeds begin to yellow and die.
