Bispyribac-Sodium
Type: Herbicide
Mode of Action: Inhibiting the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS)
Common Product Names: Regiment & Velocity PM
What is it?
Bispyribac-Sodium is a systemic herbicide, primarily used in the management of weeds in rice paddies, turf, and some other crops. It is highly effective against a broad spectrum of weeds, including both grass and broadleaf varieties. As a systemic herbicide, it is absorbed through the foliage and roots of the plant, ensuring comprehensive control of weeds.
How does it work?
Upon application, Bispyribac-Sodium is rapidly absorbed by the foliage and roots of the target weeds. It translocates throughout the plant, reaching growing points where it inhibits the ALS enzyme. This inhibition prevents the plant from synthesizing essential amino acids, leading to halted growth and eventual plant death. Results from Bispyribac-Sodium application can typically be observed within a few days, with full weed control achieved in about 2-3 weeks.
