Common Product Names: BrushMaster & SpeedZone Southern
What is it?
2,4-DP (Dichlorprop) is a widely used herbicide effective against a variety of broadleaf weeds. It is commonly applied in agricultural settings, turf management, and lawn care. 2,4-DP is part of the phenoxy herbicide group, which includes other well-known chemicals like 2,4-D. As a selective herbicide, it targets weeds without harming most grasses, making it ideal for use in pastures, cereal crops, and ornamental lawns.
How does it work?
Once applied, 2,4-DP is absorbed by the leaves and stems of broadleaf weeds. As a systemic herbicide, it moves through the plant's vascular system, disrupting the normal growth processes by over-stimulating cell division and elongation. This leads to abnormal growth patterns, such as twisting and curling of leaves and stems, ultimately causing the plant to die. Visible effects of 2,4-DP application typically appear within a few days, with complete weed death occurring in 1 to 3 weeks, depending on environmental conditions and weed species.
