24-D 2EHE
Type: Herbicide
Mode of Action: Mimic the plant hormone Auxin
Common Product Names: 2,4-D LV6, Surepower, Scorch, & Cleansweep
What is it?
2,4-D 2-Ethylhexyl Ester (2EHE) is a systemic herbicide that is absorbed by the leaves and roots of plants. It is part of the phenoxy family of herbicides, which are known for their effectiveness in controlling broadleaf weeds while leaving grasses largely unaffected. The ester formulation enhances the herbicide's ability to penetrate plant tissues, making it more effective in cooler temperatures where other formulations might be less active. Results from the application of 2,4-D 2EHE can typically be observed within 7 to 14 days, depending on the environmental conditions and the growth stage of the weeds.
How does it work?
Once applied, 2,4-D 2EHE is absorbed by the leaves and roots of broadleaf weeds. It then mimics the natural plant hormone auxin, leading to uncontrolled cell division and growth. This causes the weed to grow abnormally, exhausting its energy reserves, and eventually leading to its death. The herbicide is particularly effective as a post-emergent treatment, meaning it is most effective when applied after the weeds have already emerged and are actively growing.
