What is it?

Quizalofop-P-Ethyl belongs to the chemical class of aryloxyphenoxypropionates, commonly known as "fop" herbicides. It is a highly effective herbicide used primarily in broadleaf crops such as soybeans, sugar beets, cotton, and peanuts. Its selectivity allows it to target and eliminate grass weeds without harming the broadleaf crops. Quizalofop-P-Ethyl is absorbed by the foliage and translocated throughout the plant, concentrating in the growing points of shoots and roots.

How does it work?

Quizalofop-P-Ethyl is absorbed by the leaves of grass weeds and then translocated to the growing points. By inhibiting the ACCase enzyme, it disrupts fatty acid synthesis, leading to the cessation of cell membrane production and energy storage. This disruption causes the weed to stop growing, and within a few days, the grass weeds show visible symptoms such as chlorosis (yellowing) and necrosis (tissue death). Full weed control is typically observed within 1-3 weeks, depending on environmental conditions and the weed species targeted.
